What the health % actually means
iOS reports Maximum Capacity against the battery's original design. Once it drops under about 80%, iOS throttles peak performance to stop sudden shutdowns, so a phone can feel slow and still show 82%. Cycle count matters as much as the percentage. A fresh cell resets both.

The “Service” message, handled properly
An “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery” or “Service” message is Apple’s record that the battery was replaced with one it can’t verify. We tell you what your phone will show before we start, and you can choose a genuine Apple battery, which on iPhone 12 and newer shows “Genuine” (new) or “Used” (reclaimed) instead of “Unknown”. Your choice, clearly priced.

A swollen battery lifts the screen away from the frame and must never be punctured. If yours is swelling, stop using it and stop charging it, then message us before you post it.
