What a proper charging port repair actually involves
The socket is the part you see, but on most iPhones it shares a flex cable with the bottom microphone and the speaker contacts. A careless repair can damage those, and you would find out on your next phone call.

Debris first, part second
Pocket lint compacts at the back of the socket and stops the cable seating. We check and clean the port before anything is replaced. If a clean is all it needs, you don’t pay for a new port: it’s £20 to clean the charging port and the speakers, plus return postage.

Microphone and speaker on the same flex
On most iPhones the charging port shares a flex with the bottom microphone and the speaker contacts, so one fault can present as another. The diagnostic is what tells us whether it is the port flex, the microphone, the loudspeaker, contamination or the board, and we tell you which before we charge you. Where they do share the flex, replacing it properly restores all of them; a rushed job leaves you with a phone that charges but can’t be heard on calls.

If your iPhone charges when the cable is held at an angle, or only with certain cables, the port is the usual cause, though a worn cable can do the same, so try another cable first. If it accepts charge normally but drains fast or shuts off early, the battery is the likely cause. We test both before ordering a part, and quote whichever is actually at fault.
Often, yes. Compacted lint is one of the most common causes of a “loose” cable, and cleaning fixes it. If it’s only lint you don’t pay the port price: we clean the charging port and the speakers for £20, plus return postage.
